Description
The 1.7 oz. Aramid is a high tensile strength and high modulus plain weave fabric woven from KEVLAR® fibers. The plain weave provides fabric stability but due to the fabric construction the aramid fabric is less pliable. Though it is a little stiff for highly contoured molds, it does offer uniform properties, maximum stability and simple surfacing characteristics. It is ideal for applications that require stiffness, lightweight and high abrasion resistance.
It offers superior wet-out capability because it is sized with a coupling agent that provides a chemical bond between the aramid fiber and various resins. It is suitable for use in wet layup, vacuum bagging and resin infusion manufacturing and is compatible with polyester, vinyl-ester and epoxy resins.
